POWER IN THE PROBLEM

HBCU Homecoming Tour 2026
For too long, Black and Brown communities have been viewed only through the lens of crisis—pollution, poverty, incarceration, and disinvestment. But we know the truth: our communities are not problems to fix. They are sources of wisdom, innovation, and resilience. The Power in the Problem campaign flips the script by rooting solutions in the lived experiences of those most impacted. It elevates climate justice, tech accountability, and economic opportunity by investing in the people who know the problem best—and who are best equipped to lead us forward.
Through storytelling, policy engagement, and activation at key cultural moments like HBCU homecomings, this campaign builds narrative power, civic power, and workforce power—all driven by community brilliance.
This fall, Dream.Org is bringing the HBCU Homecoming Tour back to campus–with more tour stops added!
Each tour stop will feature:
- A mini job fair featuring employers and orgs offering internships, fellowships, and green career pathways
- An inspiring conversation with students, alumni, and leaders who have turned challenges into opportunities
- Interactive stations where you can pledge to vote, create your voting plan, and learn how your voice drives change
- And more! Free entry & free food!
*Dates and locations to be announced*

Homecoming is a space of heritage and hope - where civic culture and modern mobilization merge. Through this tour, Dream.Org aims to shift the narrative around Black communities and climate/environmental challenges—from “problems” to sources of leadership, vision, and innovation. Each campus stop becomes a moment to showcase how youth-led climate and economic equity narratives translate into votes.
“It is important for us to be a part of events like this because of the need for sustainable careers. A lot of students don’t know that they can promote a career that is sustainable.” - Makenna Davis, Howard University Student
In midterm years, when turnout typically dips - especially among youth - we’re setting the stage for engaged participation and pledge-driven activation. Each campus stop is strategically placed in states pivotal to control of the U.S. House, Senate, and key governor’s races.
Opportunities in clean energy, worker training, and reentry pipelines deepen civic stake in policy outcomes affecting community well-being. With that, Dream.Org is focusing on connecting Black youth and justice-impacted individuals to real opportunities in clean energy, reentry support, and climate-tech careers.
“When you think about the green economy, the green economy isn’t just about the environment directly but also around the work that you do throughout your life in industries broadly. Everything you do has something to do with green.” - Anthony Kinslow, Gemini Energy Solutions
In combination with the Green Reentry Incubator, and Stop Toxic Tech: Green the Grid campaign, Dream.Org is creating deeply rooted, cross-sector alliances that include HBCUs, justice orgs, environmental groups, and tech accountability coalitions.
