What’s Your Dream for America? Dream.Org Announces National Cash Prize Contest for America’s 250th Anniversary

April 20, 2026

The national campaign invites everyday Americans to imagine what’s possible for the next 250 years for a chance to win $1,000

Oakland, CA. — In recognition of America’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Dream.Org has launched the Dream For America campaign asking: “What’s your dream for America?” The national storytelling and civic engagement campaign invites people from across the country to share their vision for America's future for a chance to win up to $1,000.

Dream.Org, is a national nonprofit that brings unlikely allies together to close prison doors and open doors of opportunity. Shaped with common ground at its core, Dream.Org has spent nearly a decade passing landmark local and federal legislation to reduce cycles of incarceration, make communities safer and healthier, and expand access to the American dream. This campaign is an invite for everyday people to shape the future of the American dream for the next 250 years and beyond by dreaming out loud together.

The 250th anniversary is not just a celebration. It is a call to action to answer a harder question: what kind of country are we building for the next generation?” says Dream.Org CEO Nisha Anand. “America has always held both promise and contradiction. But there is still more that unites us than divides us. If we are willing to find common ground and take responsibility for solving real problems, we can move closer to an American dream that lives up to our founding principles and expands who fully belongs in it.”

Contest participants can submit a 60-second video or a written 150-word response finishing the prompt: “My dream for America is…” using this form. Video responses are eligible to enter the $1,000 raffle and written responses are eligible to enter the $500 raffle. Dream.Org will be giving out a total of $5,000 to seven (7) individuals and announcing the winners on July 4th, 2026. Responses must be submitted by June 30th, 2026.

“Dreaming together is the first step, then we have to build together,” says Rachael Payton, Senior Director of Communications and Marketing at Dream.Org. “We’re hopeful that those who decide to contribute to this proverbial quilt made up of American dreams will be inspired to join us in the work to find common ground, preserve democracy and improve the quality of life for all Americans.”
