The Dream.Org Tech Scholarship Fund is looking to change the face of the tech industry by empowering untapped talent to enter the tech sector, whether it’s new industries like Climate tech and sustainability or traditional tech pathways like coding or cybersecurity. Dream.Org seeks to elevate people from diverse communities to position them for employment, shaping a more inclusive future while reducing negative environmental impacts that have disproportionate effects on communities of color.
The Tech Sector boasts some of the best careers and highest paying jobs available, but this growing industry has struggled to reach our Black and Brown communities. Through our Tech Cohorts, we connect these job seekers directly to our corporate partners, giving them the skills and support they need to upskill and start a new career in tech.
The rise of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts reflects the growing awareness that corporations and businesses need to attract more diverse talent. This not only improves company culture, it paves the way for more innovation by opening companies up to the untapped brilliance in these overlooked communities. Yet many still don’t know where to start. We connect job seekers directly to our corporate partners, build training cohorts to upskill and fill positions, and help top tech organizations ensure great onboarding and retention of diverse talent.
Representation matters. If you can’t see the possibilities you can’t even begin to achieve them. We hold events like our “Activate and Inspire” series and Black Future Weekend, to build relationships between communities and influential leaders in the tech industry. Through guided conversations, networking opportunities and engaging activities, we encourage creative thinking to help everyone see that they can be the architects of the future.
Black and Brown communities are most severely impacted by climate change and yet are rarely included in the creation of solutions. By bringing these communities into the conversation and making changes to the structural barriers keeping them out, we find equitable solutions to create a more inclusive green economy. That’s why we launched the Clean Energy Scholarship program to help more individuals – particularly those in communities of color – take a first step towards a green future, whether it’s getting an education or launching a business. And through our Dream.Org Business Council, we are ensuring Black and Brown entrepreneurs and innovators are at the forefront of the green transition by lifting up breakthrough ideas and technologies.
Building on the Clean Energy Scholarship Program, the Dream.Org Business Council Fellowship Program takes investing in diverse talent a step further by providing a full year of experience in a green job.
