From Charlotte to the Bay Area: Groundbreaking Green Reentry Incubator Expands for the Justice-Impacted Community

May 08, 2026

New cohort will train and support justice-impacted Bay Area residents for careers in solar, infrastructure, and the clean energy economy

Oakland, California - May 8th, 2026 - After the successful launch of its pilot program, applications are now open for Dream.Org’s Green Reentry Incubator in Oakland, CA. The eight week course will operate in tandem with the Charlotte, NC cohort and will provide up to ten justice-impacted Bay Area individuals with the skills, mentorship, and community support to access good-paying green jobs.

In an effort to expand environmental education, break cycles of incarceration, and open doors of opportunity into the green economy across the country, the new cohort will tailor its personal development, leadership training, and employment pathways to the Bay Area community. It will begin on July 11th with in-person and virtual sessions and gather for a graduation ceremony on August 29th, following Dream.Org’s annual staff retreat in Oakland.

“The success of our Charlotte incubator showed what’s possible when justice-impacted communities are given access to opportunity and support for pathways into the green economy,” says cohort leader and Dream.Org’s Senior Director of Green For All, Jasmine Davenport. “We’re excited to bring that impact to the Bay Area.”

Participants will expand their knowledge of solar power, habitat restoration, local infrastructure and resilience hubs, distributed energy resources, and more and will graduate with connections to local employers and a roadmap for long-term economic stability.

Bay Area individuals that have been incarcerated, have loved ones that have been incarcerated, or have had personal experiences with the criminal justice system can apply now through June 9th, 2026 on Dream.Org’s website. Eligible candidates will go through a phone screening and final interview.
