A Historic Opportunity for Climate Equity and Empowerment
At Dream.Org, our Climate Investments Team is dedicated to ensuring that the transition to a low-carbon future is inclusive and just. We advocate for equitable climate investments that create wealth-building opportunities for BIPOC communities. By leveraging innovative strategies like capital staking and de-risking climate projects, we help attract investments to these communities, driving economic growth and building generational wealth.
Who We Are
One way we accomplish this is by advocating for financial models and policies that center marginalized BIPOC communities. This involves developing initiatives for community-supported renewable energy projects and changing systems to reduce waste. Our equity models for climate finance use this historic moment as a wealth-building opportunity for Black and Brown communities.
Our Approach
Dream.Org's Climate Investment Team are thought leaders in equitable climate finance, influencing policy and practice at multiple levels. Our expertise in capital staking and financial de-risking shapes our work. Through strategic interventions, we shape public policy while expanding investments in underserved areas most impacted by climate change.
Capital Stacking for Equitable Growth
Capital Stacking provides the necessary initial funding or equity to projects in marginalized communities to attract further investment. This practice is essential for leveling the playing field and ensuring that Black and Brown communities can participate in and benefit from climate-related economic opportunities. By leveraging capital stacking, we remove financial barriers to develop and sustain green projects, driving economic growth and building generational wealth.
Federal Support and De-Risking Climate Projects
Federal grants, loan guarantees, and tax incentives de-risk climate projects by reducing financial uncertainty, making climate projects more attractive to investors.
The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) is a key example of this effort. With a substantial allocation of $27 billion, it explicitly targets de-risking climate projects in marginalized communities. By offering financial safety nets, the government lowers the potential for economic loss and encourages private sector investment in climate projects that may initially appear too risky or unprofitable – particularly those in underserved or marginalized communities. This fund broadens the scope of supported projects beyond traditional clean energy to include urban sustainability projects, green transportation systems, and pollution control initiatives. By lowering the risk profile of these projects, the GGRF makes them significantly more attractive to private investors and fuels economic growth and good-paying jobs.
We're helping financial institutions meet the moment.
