Statement: Dream.Org Urgently Calls for Common Ground And Condemns Political Violence

July 15, 2024

Over the weekend, a fatal shooting took place at a Trump campaign rally. In response to this tragic event, Dream.Org CEO Nisha Anand issued the following statement:

“We have come to accept a level of violence in America that puts targets on the backs of our kids, our public servants, and our most vulnerable citizens. Yet most of us agree that we cannot allow political violence in our democracy or weapons of war in our communities. After this weekend’s shooting and amidst this divisive election season, let us come together and find the common ground necessary to build a democracy strong enough to put an end to mass shootings, political violence, and hate crimes.

“At Dream.Org,  we are committed to working across racial, economic, and partisan lines to build a fairer and safer country with economic opportunities for everyone. That doesn’t change now - this week our team is heading to Milwaukee for the RNC in a continued effort to build common ground where we can find it. We call on our political leaders to do the same.”
