Washington, D.C., May 13, 2025 - Yesterday, the House Ways & Means Committee released a draft legislation for their reconciliation mandate that seeks to gut America’s clean energy manufacturing to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires. The bill would dismantle clean energy incentives that are essential for lowering energy costs for families, creating good paying jobs, and bolstering American manufacturing.

In response, Dream.Org’s CEO Nisha Anand issued the following statement:

“The Republican budget proposal threatens the very incentives driving America’s clean energy sector—undermining efforts to meet rising energy demand, create family-sustaining jobs, and grow our economy. These tax policies enjoy broad bipartisan support because they work. They position the U.S. to lead on energy independence while delivering real benefits to American communities.

Clean energy manufacturing is booming everywhere, but especially in Republican states and districts. Of the roughly 400,000 new clean energy jobs announced across the country since August 2022, more than half (53%) are located in congressional districts represented by Republicans. Yet the proposal would constrain or prematurely end the clean energy tax credits that benefit their own communities and local businesses. These tax incentives are essential for the long-term growth of the US economy, delivering solutions for growing domestic energy production, manufacturing, and keeping consumer energy costs down. Protecting these policies is essential to keeping people employed and energy affordable."

We urge members of the House to support a budget that keeps America competitive by delivering good jobs, lower energy costs, and more reliable power made here at home. Rolling back clean energy incentives would stall economic growth, hurt working families, and undermine America's energy dominance.
