WASHINGTON, D.C., March 12, 2025 - Last night, the House passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) that, if passed by the Senate, would cut $13 billion in funding for essential services for hard-working American citizens, grant an additional $6 billion towards defense, and give the President unchecked authority to reallocate additional funds—stripping Congress of its constitutional power to manage America’s bank account.
In response, Dream.Org’s Green For All Policy Director Kyle Kammien issued the following statement:
“The CR proposal prioritizes defense spending over essential public health and environmental protections that are needed for our communities. Instead of investing in solutions that keep families safe, neighborhoods clean, and costs low for middle class and low income taxpayers, this proposal could cut critical funding from critical programs including not limited to:
- Small business administration programs that benefit entrepreneurs;
- Disaster relief and funding for the the Environmental Protection Agency
- Renewable energy funding within the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement;
- Housing subsidies for low-income and working Americans, forcing increased costs on landlords causing a potential wave of evictions;
- Public transportation projects currently underway for commuters;
- Veterans healthcare and health and education programs like workforce training and women’s health programs.
Millions of Americans rely on these programs everyday. We urge the Senate to reject this harmful proposal and demand a budget that protects the American people—not one that undermines congressional oversight and community well-being.”
