Calls for our Climate & Communities

October 17, 2023

Join us on Tuesday, October 17th telling your Representative to Protect Climate Funding in Budget Negotiations!

The lifeline to our planet's health is precariously close to being cut as Congress remains embroiled in budget disagreements — including the federal climate programs in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that will bring much-needed relief and empowerment to communities across the United States. It's essential that our representatives understand the long-term ramifications of reducing critical funding for our communities and our environment.

Take one minute to make a call for our climate. Tell your Representative: Protect climate funding at all costs! Do not defund our communities and our planet!

Call 1-415-506-7782 for a Republican-held District

Sample Call Script:

Hi, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m calling from [YOUR CITY/STATE] to urge you to protect essential clean energy funding in budget negotiations.

Most of the clean energy projects from the Inflation Reduction Act are located in red states. Since its passage, 96,216 new jobs and over $224.8 billion in investments have been announced in 92 Republican-held districts. Therefore, continuing to fund these clean energy initiatives will boost the economy and foster energy independence in our communities.

As a commitment to our state’s long-term economic growth, please stand firm in preserving these clean energy funds.

There will be two versions, one for Representatives in Democrat-held districts and one for Republican-held districts, read below for your specific script. When you make the call will be redirected to your representative's office. Click here to find out who your representative is in case you are not redirected.

Call 1-202-946-3132 for a Democratic-held District

Sample Call Script:

Hi, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m calling from [YOUR CITY/STATE] to urge you to protect essential climate funding in budget negotiations.

Climate change is becoming more devastating, and increasingly more expensive for us in [YOUR CITY/STATE]. Thankfully, due to the Inflation Reduction Act’s climate investments, we are currently on track to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030. But this will not be the case if essential climate funding is repealed in budget negotiations.

Thank you for your past support of climate legislation, such as the Inflation Reduction Act. Please continue your support by protecting these crucial climate programs during budget discussions. Reject ALL requests to defund our communities and our planet.
