Green Reentry Incubator

Turning incarceration into innovation

About the Program

The Green Reentry Incubator equips justice-impacted individuals  with the tools, skills, mentorship, and community support to build a greener, more just future.

All participants will receive a $3,200 stipend and a free laptop.

By blending environmental education with personal development and leadership training, the incubator breaks cycles of incarceration and opens doors to green career pathways. Each participant becomes a proof point that investing in people, not punishment, is how we build safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.

This 8 week program will launch in Charlotte, North Carolina and run from April 11, 2026 to June 6, 2026. Up to 10 Charlotte-based justice-impacted individuals will be connected to local opportunities and employers.

Participants will be exposed to clean energy topics such as:

  • Solar power
  • Electric vehicles
  • Distributed energy resources
  • Local infrastructure and resilience hubs
  • Entrepreneurship and much more!

Reentry wraparound services will be prioritized and available to participants. Cohort graduates will leave with a clear understanding of green career opportunities, connections to local employers, and a roadmap for long-term economic stability.

Applications are open from February 4 through March 11, 2026.

Learn from Local Leaders

From April to June, there will be a hybrid of virtual and in-person sessions led by Charlotte-based experts. Workshops will range from introductory energy lessons to money management skills and professional development. The program will utilize hands-on demonstrations and on-site field trips to help cohort participants get a deeper understanding of what opportunities exist in the local green economy.

Thank you to our partner, Sol Nation, for ensuring on the ground support is maintained for all cohort members throughout the duration of the program.

Gain Certifications

Participants will be expected to complete the OSHA-10 General Industry course during the 8 weeks. Course completion and certification is a requirement for stipend eligibility at the end of the program (June 6th).

*Course access will be provided for free to all participants during orientation.*

Create New Connections and Opportunities
